Hi Folks,
We are enjoying some beautiful days on the
farm. Last weekend we got lots of things planted. And
the seeding, weeding and planting continue this
week. We picked a few asparagus spears out of the
field this week and if we get some nice warm weather
you will be seeing it your boxes next week. We will
also have bok choy and totsoi available from our
greenhouse next week. Interest in local organic produce
is up and Dick has been busy visiting businesses
and attending Health Fairs spreading the
word about our great produce.

Hi Folks,
Things have been very busy this week. With
the good weather we have been out in the fields.
Many vegetables have been put in the ground and
we have many more waiting. This week we have
planted carrots, spinach, beets, peas and parsnips.
The greenhouse beds are full of lettuces, cucumbers,
chard, bok choy and more. We will have fresh shallot
greens out of the greenhouse for your boxes next
week.

Hi Folks,
We have had some great weather this week to get
outside and work on our fields. Dave and Anthony have
been busy spreading compost to be worked in to the soil
before planting. Sean and Michael have been thinning and
replanting seedlings. We will be planting beds of spinach,
chard and lettuce in the big greenhouse that should be
ready for your orders in a few weeks. We can’t wait until
we can start putting more fresh Grindstone Farm veggies
in your boxes.

Hi Folks,
It is looking pretty wintery outside our window today,
the ground is covered in a blanket of white. We are
glad to have taken advantage of last Thursday’s nice
weather and got all of our shallot seed planted. Our greenhouses
are busting at the seams with plants ready for the
fields, so we hope better weather is here soon.
The CNYCSA is actively signing up folks for the
2009 20 week program for the Syracuse area. They have
over 100 members already with more signing up daily. We
encourage early sign up as it helps us plan and plant what
will be needed to feed those hungry families. Be sure to let
us know, or adjust your online accounts if you will be
switching from Healthy or Deluxe Boxes to the CSA Program.
CSA deliveries start the third week of June and end
the last week of October. Go to www.csacny.com for more
information.

Hi Folks,
The farm is starting to come alive with people
and plants. Both greenhouses are full of seedlings,
waiting for nice weather to be planted. Our tractor
came back from the shop with engine repairs, and
sporting some new tires for the season. If you think
car repair is expensive, try a tractor. We had a visitor
from Brooklyn, Kyong Son, who was taking a look at
an internship position. She has decided to join us to
try her hand at farming and will be returning the end
of April. Our membership is continuing to grow with
the addition of 3 new members this week. Welcome,
we look forward to supplying you with great organic
products!

Hi Folks,
It has been a busy week. The guys have
been building and finishing up four complete root
washers and one kit. Karen delivered them yesterday
to Rhode Island and Massachusetts. The demand
has slowed down some, but we are hoping for
a few more orders before the farm is in full swing for
the season.

Hi Folks,
What beautiful weather we are enjoying
at the farm. It is mud season, but the sun is doing
a nice job of drying things out. Dave & Sean
have been busy moving all the seedling trays
from the barn greenhouse to the big greenhouse
to make way for more seedling trays. We
have chives growing from last year’s planting
that should be ready in a couple of weeks, as
well as parsley and sage. We will begin planting
more seeds this week as the growing season
continues. Friday Spring Begins!

Wow, what a week we have had, record orders
and sales for 2009 and we have all of you to
thank for it. We are delivering over 90 orders this
week. Welcome to all of our new members. We have

share with other folks that may be interested in our
programs. If you would like more, just let us know
and we can get those to you. The CNY-CSA brochures
are also available on their website as well as
sign up forms you can print out. If you will be switching
from our Healthy Box Program to the CSA Program

Hi Folks,
With Presidents Day behind us we are almost
through February, and the first day of Spring is
only four weeks away. We have some onions started
with more to come, and Dick is busy going through
the seed catalog ordering some great stuff for the
2009 growing season.
